However, I believe hat persons such as ourselves are a distinct exception among visitors to the parks. History has to be accessible to the general public if we expect them to learn and appreciate it. Making it accessible is the double edged sword though, as this usually involves some form of simplification to make it digestible for the layman. Those of us who pour over yhe dusty tomes and argue the merits of the most minor points may never be satisfied with a general interpretive program. We will probably have to make do with a few kernels and crumbs that are sifted from the experience. While your ponts are spot on, I fear the risk of complicating the past and making it even more opaque to the general public.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
